English Vintage

English Vintage

This was my first shoot using my new overhead rails installed in my portrait studio!

This little guy is Lock and he fit the part of my English Vintage set to the T! His momma went and got him some newsboy hats to match the set when I described it to her earlier during the phone consult.
I also let her know that my studio is mainly shoe free for little ones under the age of 5. Little man here promptly sat down after shaking my hand ever so politely and wasted no time taking off his socks and shoes!

Lock was so adorable and very interested in getting his "pitcher" taken! I showed him how the flash worked and at first he was startled but I assured him it would not hurt him. He kept looking around in the most apt wonder at all the props I had piled up "just in case".

Turns out, Lock lost all interest in anyone or anything but the truck the instant he laid his eyes on it. He was still very polite and interactive and cute as a button, but this was the hands down winner of props today!

So, what do you do when you introduce that really awesome toy/prop too early? You improvise and hide easter eggs (not real, because if you don't find them later it will be a disaster), and ask them to find them.
I try to ask their parents if they are allergic to anything or if they have a favorite goodie like raisins or candy I can hide away in tutu's or the suitcase in this situation. Capturing great moments are easy when they are searching for that treasure!

Lock is at one of my favorite ages; he will be three next week. He is not shy and can verbalize and interact. Here he is telling me about all "five" toes he has! ha ha I love my job!
